Logistics: Barid Al-Maghrib puts 225 Citroën Ami on the road

Barid Al-Maghrib as part of the expansion of its distribution network, has decided to opt for 100% electric vehicles. The launch took place this Tuesday in Rabat.

Barid Al-Maghrib put 225 Citroën Ami electric vehicles on the road on June 15, dedicated exclusively to modernizing and expanding its mail and parcel distribution network.

Designed and produced in Morocco by Stellantis Kénitra especially for Barid Al-Maghrib, these electric vehicles will be put on the road in 42 cities across all regions. Their distribution will be based on the size and volume of mail and parcel delivery.

Resulting from the agreement signed in October 2020 between Barid Al-Maghrib and Stellantis, these electric vehicles of Citroën Ami type, are adapted to the daily activity of distribution and have a range of 75 km, while the full charge does not exceed a duration of 3 hours.

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, present at the launch, said that thanks to the strong impetus given by King Mohammed VI to clean energy, the Kingdom is moving forward with serenity in its energy transition, As evidenced by “this fruitful collaboration between the Stellantis group and Barid Al-Maghrib which gave birth to locally manufactured electric cars reaffirmed the common desire of public and private operators to support the development of electric mobility in Morocco and make it one of the strong links of the national industry,” he said.

The director of the postal activities of Barid Al-Maghrib, El Messaoudi Abdeladim, stressed that these vehicles, considered as real stepping stones to a new era, meet the objective of Barid Al-Maghrib to adopt eco-mobility to help reduce CO2 emissions related to transport and ensure a clean and sustainable mobility.
