Burkina Faso Official Commends Royal Proposal on Sahel States’ Access to Atlantic Ocean

The Vice-President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly in Burkina Faso, Daouda Diallo, commended, on Tuesday in Rabat, HM King Mohammed VI’s proposal, announced in the Royal Speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March, to launch an international initiative to promote access to the Atlantic Ocean for Sahel states.

“The Royal Speech underlined His Majesty the King’s interest in the concerns of landlocked countries,” Diallo told the press following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatraites, Nasser Bourita.

“His Majesty the King has decided to help us, and this decision comes at just the right time,” he said, adding that his country is facing difficulties and needs outlets to be able to export its products and boost its development.

The Burkinabe official also took the opportunity to hail the excellent relations between Morocco and Burkina Faso, expressing his appreciation for the rapid development the Kingdom is undergoing, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King.

He also praised the Kingdom’s efforts to help Burkina Faso cope with its difficulties, noting that Morocco “has assisted us by giving us help and supporting us in our relations with foreign countries in terms of cooperation.”

Diallo also praised the “sovereign and responsible” approach adopted by the Kingdom in dealing with the effects of the Al-Haouz earthquake, stressing that this approach set an example for Africa and the whole world.

He also expressed his deep sorrow at the earthquake, reaffirming his country’s solidarity with the Kingdom in the face of this ordeal.
