Canada: Morocco Guest of Honor at Outaouais Film Festival

Morocco in all its richness and diversity will be honored at the Outaouais Film Festival (FFO), a prestigious Canadian film event to be held on June 2-10, in Gatineau, twin city of the capital Ottawa.

The choice of Morocco as guest of honor allows “to better highlight this year, the celebration of the establishment of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Canada,” the ambassador of the Kingdom to Canada, Souriya Otmani, told MAP.

In addition to the many Moroccan films in the running and the presence of directors and national actors, including Nabil Ayouch and Maryam Touzani, the FFO has also devoted the days of June 4 and 5 entirely to celebrate Morocco and its culture.

This event, which attracts thousands of people each year, will showcase the Moroccan culture, history, and rich heritage through decorations, music, gastronomy, crafts, local products, parade of caftans and animation for children, as well as a range of other tools to promote the Morocco destination.

The FFO has even chosen this year the Moroccan design for its visual identity, widely publicized.

As part of this promotional effort, the capsule “Morocco, land of light” was also “projected and will continue to be during the days dedicated to the Kingdom,” said Otmani.

Launched by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), this campaign aims to position Morocco among the most coveted global tourist destinations and strengthen its image trend, especially among new generations of travelers. A particular interest has been given, among others, to art and cultural experiences.
