19th Marrakech International Film Festival to Feature 10 Meetings with Prominent World Cinema Figures

The 19th Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), scheduled from November 11 to 19, will feature ten meetings with great names in world cinema as part of the In Conversation With program, one of the festival’s most eagerly awaited events.

The program will consist of “a series of intense and exciting exchanges with leading personalities of world cinema,” who will “generously” share with the Marrakech audience their vision and practice of cinema, between “brilliant demonstrations and tasty anecdotes,” the organizers said in a press release.

This edition’s esteemed guests who will come to meet festival-goers are Bollywood star Ranveer Singh (November 12), French actress Marina Foïs, French director Léos Carax (November 13), French actress and director Julie Delpy (November 14), French director Julia Ducournau.

This list also includes the second director to receive the Palme d’Or in the history of the Cannes Film Festival, and the American director and poet Jim Jarmusch (November 15), the same source said.

According to the organizers, the Oscar-winning French-Lebanese composer Gabriel Yared (November 16), the prominent British actor Jeremy Irons, the two-time Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi (November 17) and the Swedish director Robin Östlund (November 18) will also be part of the event.

It should be noted that the 19th FIFM will see the screening of 76 films from 33 countries representing cinematic experiences from all regions of the world, in the different sections of the festival.

These sections namely include the Official Competition, the Gala Sessions, the Special Sessions, the 11th Continent, the Panorama of Moroccan Cinema, the Young Audience Sessions, the Open Air Screenings on Jemaa El Fna Square and the films programmed as part of the tributes.

The jury of the official competition of this edition, chaired by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, includes Danish director Susanne Bier, Guatemalan American actor and producer Oscar Isaac, British actress Vanessa Kirby, German actress Diane Kruger, Australian director Justin, Lebanese director and actress Nadine Labaki, Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi and French actor Tahar Rahim.
