CAF Champions League Semifinals (1st Leg): Wydad Beats Angola’s Petro Atletico 3-1, Moves Closer to Final

Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca took a giant stride to a place in this season’s African Champions League final as the team beat hosts Petro Atletico of Angola 3-1 in their semi-final first leg tie on Saturday.

The men of Walid Regragui, who beat their opponent of the day in the group stage (5-1), have negotiated with patience and application this first leg before the second leg game expected next weekend in Casablanca.

An own goal from Petro’s Brazilian skipper Tiago Azulao gave advantage to Wydad Casablanca at the sixteenth minute. The score gap was later widened by Yahya Jabrane (45) and Guy Mbenza (68).

The consolation goal of Petro Atletico was scored by Job Estevao nine minutes before the end of the regular time.
