CAF puts an end to the controversy and confirms its decision

Despite the pressure exerted by Al-Ahly to relocate the CAF Champions League final against Wydad Casablanca, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) once again confirms that it will be held in Morocco, on the lawn of the Mohammed V Sports Complex. from Casablanca.

Al-Ahly will not have won the case. After sending a letter to CAF and turning to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), while threatening to boycott the final if it takes place in Morocco as planned, the Cairo club will have no choice but to comply with the decisions of the CAF, which put an end to the controversy.

“The CAF TotalEnergies Champions League final will be played at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca at 8:00 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT) on the night of Monday, May 30, 2022. Al Ahly will face Wydad Athletic Club in what should be one of the most exciting matches of the season”, recalled the CAF, the day after a press release from the board of directors of Al Ahly which evoked the “failure to respect the principle of neutrality”.

Al-Ahly and Wydad de Casablaca will therefore face each other on May 30, 2022 at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca. The Egyptian giant is looking for an 11th LDC CAF title, its 3rd in a row. Wydad, for its part, is looking for its 3rd African C1 title, after winning that of 2017.
