Energy transition constitutes an opportunity to make the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun, one of the most prosperous in Morocco in a few years, said Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour on Saturday in Guelmim.
Speaking at the plenary session of the 3rd MD Talks conference, Mezzour stressed that the southern provinces are one of the three most competitive zones in the world in terms of renewable energy production.
This area has two distant competitors, such as Chile and the Australian west coast, he added, noting that “it is no coincidence that there is enormous interest from investors from all over the world in this area”.
As for investments, the minister affirmed that the Guelmim-Oued Noun region is the most attractive in Morocco, especially because of its positioning, indicating that in the next 4 to 5 years, between 40% and 50% of the investment amounts planned in Morocco refer to this region.
