Farmers’ Subsidies Expected to Reach MAD 3.7 Bln in 2022

Subsidies granted to farmers should reach MAD 3.7 billion in 2022, for an overall investment of MAD 7.4 billion, said the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forestry, Mohamed Sadiki.

Responding to a question in the House of Advisors, Sadiki stressed that these grants, awarded under the Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) include support for irrigation equipment on an area of 350,000 hectares to the end of 2027, as well as the granting of new aid for youth and the development of collective land.

These measures include, in addition, a review of subsidies according to the contracts-programs for the development of sectors on the intensification of crop and livestock production, agricultural equipment, the establishment of units of agricultural products, the use of selected seeds of cereals, in addition to the revival and diversification of agricultural exports, added the Minister.

Regarding the procedures for export of agricultural products, Sadiki said they are based on strengthening technical control, coordination and vigilance, as well as the revival of exports through participation in international events, improving services rendered, and diversification and strengthening the export activity.

The Minister noted in this sense that the volume of these exports amounted to about 15,000 tons of citrus on October 23 (-16% compared to last season) and 171 tons of early (+16% compared to a year ago).

Regarding financing, Sadiki noted that the Group Crédit Agricole du Maroc, has taken the necessary financial and organizational measures, as in previous campaigns, to meet the financing needs of the current agricultural campaign in the best conditions.
