Lisbon: Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion Confers with Portuguese Minister of Internal Administration

Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, and Portugal’s Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, discussed, Wednesday in Lisbon, ways to facilitate the integration of Moroccan workers in the country.

The talks took place in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Portugal, Othman Bahnini.

On this occasion, Sekkouri stressed the importance of the memorandum of understanding concluded Wednesday between the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and the Portuguese Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP), whereby 400 Moroccan workers will benefit from employment opportunities.

The implementation of this agreement must take into account the human dimension of this program and ensure the respect of the beneficiaries’ rights, the minister said.

The official also highlighted ANAPEC’s expertise and experience, especially with Spanish companies, stressing the need to monitor and accompany these workers for optimal integration.

For his part, Luís Carneiro praised the historical relationship between the two countries, expressing his will to collaborate closely with the different stakeholders to ease the integration of these workers.

During his two-day working visit in Portugal, Sekkouri had a meeting with 15 confederations of Portuguese employers (CIPH). He also met with several Portuguese officials to implement the agreement between the two countries on employment.

In January, Morocco and Portugal signed an agreement on the employment and residence of Moroccan workers in Portugal.
