Longofer Maroc inaugurates a new unit

The Longofer industrial group, specialized in the manufacture of welded steel tubes, galvanization, profiling and recycling of metals, launched, Monday in Casablanca, its new production unit for water pipes, in the presence of the Minister of Industry and of Commerce, Ryad Mezzour. Located on the Tit Mellil site, this production unit required a total amount of 115 million dirhams (MDH), including a state contribution of 20 MDH.

The newly installed annual production capacity exceeds 150,000 tons on 2 hectares (ha) covered. It concerns both the helically welded tube up to 3,200 mm in diameter and the longitudinally welded tube up to the square of 250 mm. In addition, the extension of the production site should allow the creation of 190 jobs, as well as the realization of an additional turnover of 702 MDH, including 14.8 MDH for export.

Speaking on this occasion, Mezzour indicated that this new unit comes in application of the High Royal Guidelines aimed at industrial and water sovereignty. “The tubes are produced by Moroccan skills from raw materials from local sources,” said the minister. And to add that the tubes of more than three meters in diameter will be greatly used to support strategic construction sites in Morocco and will contribute to the strategy of substituting imports with local production.

Since its creation, Longofer has had the ambition to promote the production of steel tubes and profiles, in all their forms, by ensuring the diversification, innovation and quality of its products and services.

In this context, the company made the strategic choice in 2018 to invest in the production of large steel tubes for the transport of fluids and construction. The company is thus a flagship of the Moroccan metallurgy which participates both in the industrialization of the country and in its international influence.
