Russia to Leave ISS over Western Sanctions

Russia has announced its decision to abandon the International Space Station (ISS) in the future, said Russian Space Agency Roscosmos Director-General Dmitry Rogozin on Saturday, specifying the the exit date will be revealed a year ahead.

“The decision has been taken already, we’re not obliged to talk about it publicly,” Rogozin said  in an interview with state TV, as quoted by Russia’s TASS and RIA Novosti.

“I can say this only: in accordance with our obligations, we’ll inform our partners about the end of our work on the ISS with a year’s notice,” he added.

On March 2, Rogozin said he would propose to the Kremlin different options for leaving the ISS after finding that Russia’s partners on the orbital platform were unwilling to lift sanctions on two Russian civilian companies.
