Agadir named Cheapest Tourist Destination This Summer

A recent study conducted by British outlet Savoo, revealed that Agadir is the cheapest location for an all-inclusive holiday this summer. The money-saving website concluded that a holiday for 6 nights and 7 days would cost £490 per person in the Moroccan city.

In comparison to other destinations, the same holiday would cost £546 in Costa Brava, Spain, which is the second cheapest option. A trip to Marrakesh was ranked 7th for pricing, at £645 per person.

Agadir is best known for its pristine nine kilometer long beach, providing a perfect location to take in the Moroccan summer heat. Temperatures in July usually reach highs of around 26 degrees celsius and rarely reach above 30. The city’s position on the Atlantic coast also offers a refreshing ocean breeze for tourists.

The beach is lined with cafes, spots to eat and a range of activities such as quad biking, jet skiing, and camel rides. Plenty of hotels are within walking distance of the coastline, and the beach is known to be kept in a clean and safe condition.

Some popular sights within Agadir and nearby include the city’s historic kasbah as well as the towns of Taroudant and Tiznit.

The study into all-inclusive travel comes after more than two years of heavy global travel restrictions, which are steadily being eased. On May 17, the Moroccan government announced that anyone wishing to travel to the kingdom no longer requires to take a PCR test.

Holiday companies and airlines have seen a growth in business since the reduction in travel requirements. In January 2022, tourism arrivals had increased by 130% compared to a year prior.

These developments come in the wake of the pandemic, which cost the Moroccan government roughly $7.2 billion in 2020 alone.

However, the government recently reported almost $1 billion in tourism revenue at the end of March 2022. Such statistics have left officials satisfied with the ongoing recovery of the industry and the Moroccan economy as a whole.
