CRUI-TTA: more than 46 billion dirhams for 357 projects in 10 months

The Unified Regional Investment Commission (CRUI) of the Tangier – Tétouan – Al Hoceima region held 157 meetings between January and October 2022, during which 357 projects were approved, i.e. 67% of the projects examined during this period, with a 80% increase compared to the first ten months of 2021, for a total amount of more than 46.4 billion MAD and more than 72 thousand new stable jobs expected in the long term.

These performances testify to the economic dynamics experienced by the region for several years and constitute the fruit of the State’s efforts in terms of the development of reception infrastructures, and this, under the impetus of the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King. Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and which have made it possible to strengthen the territorial attractiveness of the region by raising it as a global platform for investment in all sectors of activity.

This sectoral diversity that characterizes the region is also apparent in the nature of the projects approved by the CRUI for this period. Thus, and beyond the industrial projects that comfort the region as the second industrial pole in the kingdom (with 31% of projects approved), it is the trade sector (with a share of 15% of approved projects) which is increasingly recovering its legitimate position as the historical sector of the region, and this, given the logistical infrastructure and the geostrategic position enjoyed by the region and which position it as a platform for world-world trade, in particular through the commissioning of the new economic activity zone with a commercial vocation of Fnideq.

Projects related to the service sector are also experiencing a considerable increase (with a share of 23% of approved projects), particularly services related to industry and logistics, which are constantly developing to support the dynamics and growth economy of the region.

Furthermore, the tourism sector continues to attract the interest of Moroccan and foreign investors (with 16% of approved projects, for an investment amount of more than 3.6 billion MAD and 3,100 jobs), thus consolidating the position of the region as a privileged destination for seaside, Mice and ecological tourism.

Finally, and in the vision of making the region a sustainable territory, the CRUI has approved a major project in the field of wind energy for an investment amount of 1.36 billion MAD for an installed capacity of more than 100MW.

This enthusiasm for the region concerns both SMEs and SMIs and major projects, for which the CRUI has favorably examined during this period 15 investment agreements totaling more than 6 billion MAD and 2,344 term jobs.

The same dynamic was also recorded in business creation, for which the region occupies the 2nd position at the national level with 8,570 new businesses created during the first eight months of 2022, i.e. around 14% of the creations recorded in national level, according to the latest figures published by OMPIC.

These results crown the support and collective intelligence efforts carried out by the various players in the investment ecosystem and their involvement around the CRI, under the leadership of the regional Wali, since the investigation phase. files, their authorizations and their post-authorisation follow-up, in particular external services, local authorities, professional chambers and the private sector.
