World Travel Market 2022: Morocco marks its presence

As part of the plan to accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor took part in the World Travel Market 2022 in London, with a important Moroccan delegation, this November 07, 2022.

This participation of Morocco in the World Travel Market (WTM) comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) to further develop the British market which, with more than 600,000 arrivals in 2019, is the 3rd largest issuing market for Morocco after France and Spain, and the 2nd in terms of overnight stays recorded. For the ministry, given the significant development potential of this market, the objective of the ministry and the ONMT is to double the number of British tourists to the Kingdom over the next 4 years.

To do this, the Minister, accompanied by the Director General of the ONMT, Adel El Fakir, met several major British players including Expedia Inc, one of the world’s leading online travel agencies, with several international brands, as well as the leading groups TUI and EasyJet. These meetings made it possible to take stock of current partnerships and to explore new avenues of development in order to accelerate the pace of growth.

The WTM 2022 also allowed the Moroccan delegation to promote Morocco as a destination and its uniqueness to global players in the tourism industry and thousands of visitors to the show, looking for their next travel destination. The show also offers a key opportunity to meet the most influential international travel press. As such, Fatim-Zahra Ammor had the pleasure of promoting Morocco as a destination with Euronews and The Sun.

Note that the president of the National Confederation of Tourism, the presidents of the various federations, the Regional Centers of Tourism and several private operators were part of the ONMT delegation.
