Very little used by Chelsea in recent months, will Hakim Ziyech be attracted to a new adventure this summer? The Moroccan international, who has several options, can count on the support of former Dutch glory Marco van Basten to support his candidacy for an English giant.
Marco van Basten has urged Erik Ten Hag to sign Hakim Ziyech as he prepares to take the helm at Manchester United after starring at Ajax Amsterdam.
This would be a good opportunity for the Chelsea midfielder who has struggled to secure a regular role under Thomas Tuchel this season, starting just 12 Premier League games.
The 29-year-old was a key part of Ten Hag’s Ajax side which won the Eredivisie title in 2018 before being sold to Chelsea two years later in a deal 44 million euros.
And on Ziggo Sport’s ‘Rondo’ show on Monday night, which featured Ten Hag as a guest, Van Basten suggested Ziyech could also thrive under United’s new manager at Old Trafford.
“What comes to mind now is that I think Ziyech, who is already playing in England, could be a very good Manchester United footballer for Erik”Van Basten said.
“Of course, that was already the case at Ajax. You take that into account and then you have to continue to work well with the dressing room and with the people at the club. You have to analyze it well and make the right choices.replied Ten Hag.
For the time being, Ziyech continues to be followed by AC Milan and Juventus of Turin who would dispute his services. AC Milan have already offered 30 million euros to the London club, while the latter is asking for the sum of 40 million euros in order to let their player go.
Previously, the Atlas Lion had been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid who have expressed interest in the Moroccan star. Diego Simeone is always looking for experienced players who can improve his team. Ziyech is playing with a style that could suit the Rojiblancos, who have struggled for creativity this season.
