Renault Morocco announces the manufacture of the first electric car

Renault Morocco, specialized in the car industry, celebrated today, Tuesday, the 10th anniversary of the establishment of its factory, by announcing the launch of the manufacture of the first electric car for a company in the Tangiers factory.

, Minister of Industry and Trade, praised the gains made by the Moroccan automotive industry, noting that its production capacity reached 700,000 cars, and it employed more than 220,000 people throughout Morocco.

Mazur said, in a speech during a press conference held by the Renault Group Morocco in Tangier, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of its factory, that Morocco has become an exporter of auto parts to about 70 global destinations from the Tangiers factory.

The minister stressed the need to make Morocco one of the most competitive countries in the automotive industry, explaining that there is a desire to double this competitiveness and create more job opportunities in the field.

With regard to hybrid cars, which Morocco seeks to become a global pole in its manufacture, Mazour pointed to strengthening the local production of electric cars in response to the growing global demand for electric and hybrid cars, expecting the group to do a good job in this field.

Car exports in the first half of this year amounted to 52.84 billion dirhams, registering an increase of 30.1 percent, according to the data of the exchange office.

The exports of about 250 Moroccan factories for cars and their spare parts have also managed to rank first in Morocco’s industrial exports in recent years, surpassing phosphate sales.
