Special Pulitzer Prize for Ukrainian Journalists

Ukrainian journalists are being awarded a special Pulitzer Prize for their “courage” in covering the Russian offensive against their country, the association of the most prestigious American press awards announced on Monday.

Pulitzer Prize winner Marjorie Miller praised the “courage, endurance and commitment of Ukrainian journalists to report the truth during the war waged against their country by (Russian President) Vladimir Putin and his propaganda war in Russia”.

“Despite the bombings, kidnappings, occupation and even the killings in their ranks, (Ukrainian journalists) have persevered to provide an accurate picture of a terrible reality, bringing honor to Ukraine and to journalists around the world “, judged Ms. Miller who was speaking at a ceremony to award these prizes in New York.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an international NGO based in New York, seven journalists — including three Ukrainians — have been killed in Ukraine covering the war against Russia since February 24 and the association is investigating the death of five other Ukrainian journalists to confirm that their deaths are indeed related to the exercise of their profession.
