Morocco’s ANAPEC, Portuguese Employment Institute Sign MoU

The National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and the Portuguese Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) signed, Wednesday in Lisbon, a memorandum of understanding, under which 400 Moroccan workers will benefit from employment opportunities in the agricultural field in Portugal.

This agreement, inked by ANAPEC director general, Noureddine Benkhalil, and IEFP president, Domingos Lopes, aims to organize and set the steps of this first initiative, which is part of the agreement signed between the two countries in employment.

This protocol is meant to monitor the various stages of this operation, including the selection of Portuguese companies and Moroccan skills as well as the linguistic and professional training of workers, said the Moroccan official in a statement to the press.

The agreement will, moreover, accelerate the work contracts and visa and travel procedures, noted ANAPEC director general, noting that from next week, the companies and trades concerned will be identified.

For his part, IEFP president told the press that this agreement aims to prepare the optimal conditions to receive Moroccan workers, indicating that all the necessary means will be put in place to guarantee them all the rights enjoyed by Portuguese workers.

Morocco and Portugal had signed last January an agreement on employment and residence of Moroccan workers in Portugal, which is part of the dynamics of modernization of partnership instruments between the two countries.

This agreement aims to respond efficiently to the growing demand of Moroccan workers to benefit from work opportunities offered in the Portuguese economy.

It is also meant to define the admission and residence procedures applicable to Moroccan citizens for the exercise of a professional activity in Portugal, and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of managing regular migration flows.
